July 22, 2008: (Reporters Without Borders)- Reporters Without Borders condemns the murder of reporter Soran Mama Hama of the fortnightly magazine Leven, who was gunned down yesterday outside his home in Kirkuk, in the northern region of Kurdistan. April 7, 2008: (AINA) Gunmen shot dead an Assyrian Orthodox priest near his house in central Baghdad's Karrada neighbourhood on Saturday, security officials told AFP. March 13, 2008: (Christian News Wire) The body of a Chaldean Catholic archbishop has been discovered following his kidnapping in late February. Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho was abducted in the northern city of Mosul by men who killed his driver and two guards. Click here to read more.


March 6, 2008: "John Eibner, who heads a worldwide Christian human rights group, says although the U.S.-led military surge is reducing violence overall in Iraq, the situation for Christians is still tense and dangerous. A Catholic archbishop was recently kidnapped in eastern Mosul, and his two bodyguards -- who were both Christian -- were shot and killed. This is the latest in a long line of violent acts targeting Christians throughout Iraq. March 1, 2008: (Compass Direct News) Kidnappers are demanding a huge ransom for a Chaldean Archbishop abducted last week in northern Iraq, sending fear through the country’s Christian community, a local priest said.
Since the Friday (February 29) kidnapping in Mosul, Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho’s captors have refused to decrease the amount of money they are demanding for his release, according to Father Najeeb Mikhail. Click here to read more.

February 12, 2008 - The Committee to Protect Journalists condemns the murder of an Iraqi reporter whose body was discovered today in Baghdad after he disappeared on Sunday. Police discovered the body of Hisham Mijawet Hamdan, 27, a board member of the Young Journalists Association, today and took him to Al-Tib al-Adli morgue in Baghdad, Haidar Hasoun, founder and head of the association, told CPJ.
