April 21, 2008: (Baptist Press) - "The Supreme Court of Israel has ruled that Messianic Jews have the same rights regarding automatic citizenship as Jews who do not believe in Jesus as the Messiah ... The Supreme Court's decision should alleviate some of the pressure that Jewish believers and foreign Christian workers have felt in Israel, Jim Sibley said, adding that he 'can't help but believe' the ruling is related to a terrorist attack on the Messianic community that occurred in March. In that incident, 15-year-old Ami Ortiz, whose parents are noted Messianic congregational leaders in Ariel, opened a bomb disguised as a gift delivered to his home. He suffered extensive damage to his body but is expected to recover after at least a year of treatment." Click here to read more.


February 22, 2008: Middle East Concern reports a violent attack on a Christian institution in Gaza. In the early morning of February 15th, 14 armed men overpowered two guards at the YMCA facility. The attackers planted explosives in the main office and the library. The former failed to explode. However, the bombs in the library caused extensive damage to the building and books. There were no injuries.


February 15, 2008:(Compass Direct News) – Palestinian Christian widow Pauline Ayyad gave birth in Gaza last week to a healthy little girl, four months after the tiny infant’s father was kidnapped and shot to death by Islamist radicals still at large. Click here to read more.


November 16, 2007: (Human Rights Watch) The Hamas-run government in Gaza must establish an independent and nonpartisan commission of inquiry to hold security forces accountable for their use of excessive and indiscriminate force against pro-Fatah demonstrators in Gaza City on Monday, Human Rights Watch said today. More than 90 demonstrators were wounded and seven lost their lives when Hamas security forces opened fire. Click here to read more.


October 8, 2007: Bible Society leaders have paid tribute to a prominent Palestinian Christian who was killed in the Gaza Strip after being abducted near his home. Rami Ayyad, 31, manager of the Bible Society bookshop in Gaza, was kidnapped on Saturday near his home in Gaza City. His body was later found elsewhere in the city. Click here to read more.
